I know that people will see this headline and scratch their heads. Let me give my thoughts on this. My Dad was a Teamster through and through when he worked. He supported the Democratic party then and still today. I can ask him what the party platform is today, and he isn’t sure. But he would support whatever the party stance is. Twenty years ago, the party was to support the unions and minority manifesto. But now the Republicans are pushing forward with supporting more of these issues. So that’s why I ask, are new Republicans today more like the old Democrats (Swampers)?
Supporting Unions
Older Democratic platforms catered to labor unions as one of their biggest bases. But as we watch the Swampers today, the American worker seems to take a backseat to Medicare for All. Of course, it’s an attempt to encompass a larger voter base. But overall, they are hurting the American worker. The Medicare for All eliminates the beneficial health care that the labor force is currently receiving. The president has moved forward with trade deals that are benefiting the American jobs and putting more people to work. The Republican platform is direct to helping the American worker; not the Democratic one. That’s why the rust belt states gave Trump a chance on the last election. They see the swing in political platforms.
Minority Benefits
The Democratic party claimed to be the champions of minorities in this country. But what have they done lately? The prison reform, black college funding, and just better overall wages are driven by Republicans. I’m not sure what the Swampers platforms are to benefit minorities except stating that they support minorities more. Let me know if you see anything different.
Who Has the Millionaires and Billionaires?
Remember back about 20 years ago when you asked a person, “Who has the money and what party do they support?” It would be the CEO’s and President’s that have the money, and they would be supporting the Republicans. The Swampers were the party of the “poor & little people”. Now, the technology boom has placed Google, Facebook, etc. as the new million/billionaires that are supporting the Swamper’s party. But you also see actors and actresses along with professional athletes that make huge salaries that support the Dems. It’s becoming more and more that the rich are Swampers and not Republicans. So the focus by Swampers has moved away from the middle class as the party is catering to the illegal immigration bases to get more voters.
Hopefully, the American voters can see this change in the political parties. The Swampers have directed themselves to the party that are to help everyone; including illegal immigrants. The Republicans are focused on the middle class and bringing jobs back to America. It sounds like the Republicans of today sure sound like the old Democrats from 20 years ago.
